Within days of the deepwater drilling moratorium in June 2010, the Gulf Economic Survival Team began to work aggressively on a grassroots initiative to oppose the moratorium and then to resolve federal regulatory issues that have resulted in a “de facto” permitting moratorium.    We have met with White House, DOI and BOEMRE officials in DC, hosted press conferences and rallies, initiated letter writing campaigns, wrote letters to the editor, testified at numerous public meetings and hearings, gathered over 200,000 signatures on an on-line petition, facilitated weekly phone calls between industry and BOEMRE, and hosted industry workshops.

One year after the moratorium, GEST continues to serve as a facilitator between operators, state government, and the federal government to clarify new exploration and drilling plan and permit requirements. We are a persistent advocate for the return of reasonable pre-moratorium permitting levels in the Gulf of Mexico in order to get this nation Back to Work wtih American Energy.

Now, more than ever, GEST NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT
